Summer has arrived - First swim of the year
It's not even April and the water was pretty cold. But after a whole day hiking in the dessert when I arrived to Genoveses beach I could not resist it. Getting into the water under the full moon was the best part of a very nice day.

Gerardo Alonso In memoriam, montañero y profesor 1952-2010
Gerardo Alonso, gran montañero e insigne profesor de la Universidad de Granada, ha fallecido en el lugar donde transcurrió la mayor parte de su vida, Sierra Nevada.
La vida me cruzó con él hace apenas un año y en el momento que lo conocí me di cuenta de que era una de esas personalidades excepcionales que la Universidad tiene la suerte de albergar y que, en el fondo, le dan sentido.
En este año me he introducido de su mano en el mundo de la montaña. Siendo una persona que ha pasado toda su vida en Sierra Nevada la veía como era en realidad. De una manera muy alejada de visiones "románticas", como él las llamaba.
Se dice que la vida es la gente con la que te cruzas. En mi vida, a pesar del escaso tiempo que lo conocí, Gerardo ha dejado una huella indeleble.

Well, not me but a startup from my Computer Science School received an Oscar nomination. They made an animated short film and they got to go to LA.
It's something cool for a small school in a small country :-)
